- Season the beef chuck roast liberally with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Let it rest while preparing the slow cooker.
- Layer the sliced onion evenly at the bottom of the slow cooker. Place the seasoned beef roast on top.
- In a mixing bowl, combine beef broth, brown gravy mix, and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk until fully incorporated and pour over the beef.
- Cover and set the slow cooker to cook on low for 8 hours.
- After cooking, remove the beef and shred it with two forks. If the gravy is too thin, whisk in a cornstarch slurry and return the beef.
- Serve the shredded beef over creamy mashed potatoes and ladle gravy on top.
