  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined
For the Rice
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice rinsed
  • 2 cups chicken broth vegetable broth can be used for vegetarian version
For Seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning key for authentic flavor
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika for smoky depth
For Garnish
  • 2 green onions sliced, can use chives as substitute

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, pour in olive oil and heat over medium heat for about 2 minutes.
  2. Add onion, bell pepper, and celery to the skillet, and sauté for approximately 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and sliced sausage. Cook for another 4 to 5 minutes.
  4. Add rinsed rice, chicken broth, Cajun seasoning, and smoked paprika. Stir well.
  5. Increase the heat until it comes to a boil, cover, then reduce heat and let simmer for about 15 minutes.
  6. Add peeled and deveined shrimp about 5 minutes before rice is done, cover and cook until shrimp are pink.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
