  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste or use fresh tomatoes for a lighter taste
For the Spice Mix
  • 2 teaspoons Curry Powder the heart of the dish
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne or Sweet Paprika adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala for authentic flavor
For Creaminess and Depth
  • 1 can Coconut Milk low-fat or yogurt can be used
  • 1 cup Broth or Stock chicken or beef preferred
  • to taste Salt essential for seasoning
  • to taste Black Pepper essential for seasoning
  • 1/2 piece Lemon Juice fresh juice preferred

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large sauté pan, heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil over medium heat. Add 1 chopped onion and cook for about 2 minutes until translucent and fragrant.
  2. Increase heat to medium-high and add 1 pound of ground beef, breaking apart. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Add 3 minced garlic cloves and 1 tablespoon of grated ginger. Sauté for 2 minutes until aromatic.
  4. Stir in 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, 2 teaspoons of curry powder, 1 teaspoon of cayenne, and 1 teaspoon of garam masala. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour in 1 can of coconut milk and 1 cup of broth, stir to combine. Season with salt and black pepper to taste and add juice of half a lemon. Bring to a gentle boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot garnished with fresh chopped cilantro.
