Ingredients

For the Bread
  • 1 loaf Italian Bread (16-inch) French or Hoagie rolls can be used as alternatives.
For the Filling
  • 1 package Chive and Onion Cream Cheese, softened (8 oz) Consider using light cream cheese for a healthier touch.
  • 1 cup Bottled Ranch Salad Dressing Homemade ranch can elevate the dish.
  • 1.5 tsp Garlic Salt Regular salt blended with minced garlic works too!
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder Fresh sautéed onions could be a delightful alternative.
  • 3 cups Rotisserie Chicken, roughly chopped Leftover chicken works fine here.
  • 6 slices Cooked Bacon, crumbled Turkey bacon can make it healthier.
  • 3 medium Green Onions, finely chopped Replace with chives if preferred.
  • 3 cups Shredded Colby-Jack Cheese, divided Mozzarella or cheddar can be used instead.
  • 1 Tbsp Melted Butter Olive oil can be used as a lighter alternative.

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking Sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Spoon
  • Aluminum Foil

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, ranch dressing, garlic salt, and onion powder. Blend until smooth. Fold in chicken, bacon, green onions, and 1 cup of cheese.
  3. Cut the Italian bread in half lengthwise and hollow out some inner bread to hold the filling.
  4. Layer 1 cup of cheese on the bottom half of the bread, then spoon the filling on top, spreading it evenly. Top with remaining cheese.
  5. Brush the outer crust with melted butter, place the halves back together, and wrap in aluminum foil.
  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes until the filling is heated through and cheese is melted. Uncover for the last 5 minutes for a crispy top.
  7. Let cool for about 5 minutes, unwrap foil, and slice into thick pieces before serving.
