Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, and cardamom.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, orange juice, and orange zest to the butter-sugar mixture and beat just until combined.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until the dough is soft and fragrant.
  6. Using a cookie scoop, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each scoop.
  7. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown while the centers remain soft.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with orange juice until you reach your desired consistency and drizzle over cooled cookies.
