Preparation Steps
- Combine the pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and brown sugar over low heat for 3-5 minutes until sugars dissolve.
- Add the apple juice (or cider) and lemon juice, stirring for another 2-3 minutes to blend.
- Mix in the ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and salt. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes.
- Increase heat to medium-high and bring to a gentle boil, watching for bubbles in about 5-7 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to low and let simmer uncovered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Remove from heat and cool for 10-15 minutes in the pot.
