Preparation
- Combine dry ingredients by whisking together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg in a mixing bowl.
- In a separate bowl, combine buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan.
- Pour batter into prepared baking pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes before transferring to wire rack.
- Prepare glaze by sifting powdered sugar and mixing with maple syrup, milk, butter, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the glaze over cooled bars and add desired toppings.
- Let the bars set for 30-60 minutes before slicing and serving.
