Step‑By‑Step Instructions
  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, black pepper, water, and optional cayenne. Coat each slice of bacon thoroughly and lay flat on the baking sheet.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then flip each slice and bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy and golden brown.
  4. Remove the bacon and transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate to cool.
  5. Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C). Slice the baguette and brush each slice with olive oil, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  6. Toast the crostini in the oven for 7-10 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  7. On a serving platter, place the goat cheese log in the center, break the crispy bacon into pieces and press into the log. Drizzle with maple syrup, honey, or hot honey, and serve with crostini.
