Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract until just combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Drop about 2 tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 3-4 inches apart. Optionally, press extra chocolate chunks or sprinkles on top.
  6. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until the edges are slightly golden and the centers are soft. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes while warm.
  7. Allow cookies to cool for 5-7 minutes on the sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
