Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather your ingredients.
- In a large skillet, heat over medium heat and add the 1 lb. of 96% lean ground beef. Brown it for about 5-7 minutes and drain excess fat.
- Add diced yellow bell pepper, onion, and finely diced mushrooms. Sauté for 5-6 minutes until tender.
- Stir in tomato sauce, sugar-free ketchup, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, dry mustard, and onion powder. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Pour the beef mixture into a greased baking dish. Cut biscuits into quarters and layer them on top.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup shredded Colby jack cheese over the biscuits.
- Bake for approximately 25 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
