- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Whisk these dry ingredients together thoroughly.
- In a separate bowl, whisk warm plant-based milk and melted vegan butter together until fully combined. Pour in the milk mixture along with the egg or flax egg substitute into the dry mixture.
- Knead the mixture for about 5-7 minutes until it transforms into a smooth, elastic dough that isn’t sticky. Shape the dough into a ball.
- Place your dough ball into a lightly greased bowl and cover it. Set it in a warm area for about 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, roll the dough into a large rectangle about 1/4-inch thick. Spread softened vegan butter over the surface and sprinkle hot cocoa powder evenly. Roll the dough into a tight log and slice into equal pieces.
- Arrange the sliced rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover them and allow them to rise for another 20-30 minutes in a warm location.
