Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Whisk these dry ingredients together thoroughly.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk warm plant-based milk and melted vegan butter together until fully combined. Pour in the milk mixture along with the egg or flax egg substitute into the dry mixture.
  3. Knead the mixture for about 5-7 minutes until it transforms into a smooth, elastic dough that isn’t sticky. Shape the dough into a ball.
  4. Place your dough ball into a lightly greased bowl and cover it. Set it in a warm area for about 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Once risen, roll the dough into a large rectangle about 1/4-inch thick. Spread softened vegan butter over the surface and sprinkle hot cocoa powder evenly. Roll the dough into a tight log and slice into equal pieces.
  6. Arrange the sliced rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover them and allow them to rise for another 20-30 minutes in a warm location.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare the frosting by melting vegan marshmallows in a saucepan over low heat. Mix in softened vegan butter, vegan cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth.
  9. Spread the vegan marshmallow frosting over the top of the baked rolls. Cut, serve, and savor each bite.
