  • 2 teaspoons Cumin Brings warmth and earthiness.
  • 2 pieces Bay Leaves Infuses flavor during cooking.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper Adjust to taste.
For the Tortillas
  • 12 pieces Tortillas Corn or flour tortillas.
For Frying
  • 1 cup Oil Neutral oil like vegetable or canola.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Step 1: Soak the Dried Chilies - Place dried chilies in a bowl, cover with hot water, and soak for about 15 minutes until soft.
  2. Step 2: Blend the Base Sauce - Drain the chilies, blend with onion, garlic, and tomatoes until smooth.
  3. Step 3: Prepare the Beef in the Slow Cooker - Place beef cuts in the slow cooker, pour blended chili mixture over.
  4. Step 4: Add Remaining Ingredients - Pour in broth, vinegar, oregano, cumin, bay leaves, salt, and pepper.
  5. Step 5: Slow Cook to Perfection - Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.
  6. Step 6: Shred the Beef - Remove beef, shred with forks, return to slow cooker, mix well.
  7. Step 7: Fry the Tortillas - Heat oil in skillet, dip tortillas in broth fat, cook until crispy.
