Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 lb Ground Beef can substitute with ground turkey or chicken
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil can be swapped with canola or vegetable oil
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped shallots can be used for a milder flavor
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced can substitute with garlic powder
  • 3 medium Potatoes, peeled and diced Yukon gold or red potatoes work well
  • 1 tsp Salt using kosher or sea salt provides a cleaner taste
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper white pepper can be used for a less visible seasoning
  • 1 tsp Paprika smoked paprika can intensify the flavor
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Oregano fresh oregano can enhance the dish
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese can substitute with mozzarella or pepper jack
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth can substitute with chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Parsley, chopped can substitute with basil or chives

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
  2. Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula for 5-7 minutes until fully browned.
  3. Incorporate 1 chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves into the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add 3 peeled and diced medium potatoes, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of paprika, and 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano. Stir for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Pour 1/2 cup of beef broth over the mixture, reduce heat to low, and allow to simmer for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Once the potatoes are tender, uncover and sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top, cover, and cook for 2-3 minutes until melted.
  7. Remove from heat and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh parsley before serving.
