Dough
  • 1 batch Pizza Dough Use homemade or store-bought.
Toppings
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil for roasting
  • 1.5 cups Butternut Squash diced
  • 3 units Sweet Onions thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Butter for caramelizing onions
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar for caramelizing onions
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella
  • 8 ounces Ricotta Cheese
  • 12 ounces Bacon cooked and chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • to drizzle Honey
  • to taste Thyme fresh
  • to taste Red Chili Flakes optional

Method
 

Dough Preparation
  1. If making homemade pizza dough, mix the ingredients and let the dough rise for 3-4 hours at room temperature.
  2. If using store-bought dough, let it come to room temperature while preparing toppings.
Oven Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) while preparing ingredients.
  2. Increase the temperature to 450°F (232°C) before baking.
Bacon Cooking
  1. Arrange chopped bacon on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until crispy.
  2. Transfer cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
Butternut Squash Roasting
  1. Toss diced butternut squash with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet and roast for 15-35 minutes until golden.
Onion Caramelization
  1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced sweet onions and cook slowly for 30-45 minutes until soft.
  2. Near the end, add brown sugar, salt, and pepper.
Dough Shaping
  1. On a floured surface, stretch the dough into two 12-inch rounds.
Pizza Assembling
  1. Place dough on a lined baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle minced garlic.
  2. Layer caramelized onions, mozzarella, ricotta, roasted squash, and bacon.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Finishing Touches
  1. Drizzle honey, sprinkle thyme and optional red chili flakes. Cool slightly before serving.
